‘Alumni Meet’, held at our Alma Mater Dayanand Arts College, Latur on 25/05/2013

Our ‘Alumni Meet’, held at our Alma Mater Dayanand Arts College, Latur on 25/05/2013, made me  nostalgic. The days we had spent together in the campus were recollected. The meet was a blend of meeting old batch-mates, recollecting memories and enjoying speeches and cultural treat followed by dinner. All the batches of alumni have been invited to share/mark their journey on occasion of Golden Jubilee Celebration of our Alma Mater to be held on 1 June 2013 in special presence of His Highness the President of India Shree. Pranab Mukherjee. There were about 500 alumni who made this meet a huge success. A huge chunk of them, of course, were from M.A. (English, Marathi, Hindi and Pub.Adm.) batches. Felt very happy to meet and share with my close friends and classmates Dr. Anand Kulkarni, (BoS member, Pune University), Dr Dhananjay Deolalkar, (Elphinstone College, Mumbai), Principal Dr. Anita Mudkanna (Andur), Dr. Chaya dapake (Osmanabad), Urmila Dharashive, Dr. Pandurang Shitole, Dr. Balasaheb Bhosale (Latur),. Also met to Suryakant Kapase, Lahu Shewale, Dr. Sunil Salunke, Dr. Shahuraj Mule, Dr. Srikant Andhare, Dr. Pradeep Suryawanshi and other friends and batch mates. I wish a grand success to Golden Jubilee Celebration of my Alma Mater.

On 122th birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar...

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar is being viewed only as a Dalit leader or as a chief architect of the Indian Constitution. His contributions in the field of understanding individual, caste, social order, minorities, problems of women, Indian economy, nation building, social justice and his research etc are being neglected by the mainstream academia and intelligentsia.  As a global icon, he is respected by all castes and classes all over the world. Recently, he was voted by a wide margin to be the greatest Indian after Gandhi.  The prestigious Columbia University of USA, on completion of its 250 years of establishment, had built a memorial inscribing a list of 100 pioneering students of this university. Among names of Ex-Presidents of 6 different countries, 3 American Ex-Presidents and some ‘the Noble prize’ winners, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s name appears at 1st position. Please don’t confine him up to Dalits only. He served for betterment of whole humanity. He should have been termed not only as the omnipresent organic leader of modern India but also as a man of millennium.  I salute him and his legacy on his 122th birth anniversary.

Stress Management...

A psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they’d be asked the “half empty or half full” question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: “How heavy is this glass of water?”

Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.

She replied, “The absolute weight doesn’t matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it’s not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn’t change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.” She continued, “The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable of doing anything.”

It’s important to remember to let go of your stresses. As early in the evening as you can, put all your burdens down. Don’t carry them through the evening and into the night. Remember to put the glass down!

Happy Republic Day

Grief: Dharamvati, pictured centre, the wife of beheaded Indian soldier Hemraj Singh is demanding the Indian government puts pressure on Pakistan to return her husband's head
Reacting to reports about the barbaric killing of two Indian soldiers  (Lance Naik Hemraj Singh n Lance Naik Sudhakar Singh) by Pakistani troops at the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir in last week…

1. Army Chief General Bikram Singh said,  The killing of two Indian soldiers- one of whom was beheaded -- by Pakistani troops is a "gruesome and an unpardonable act"  and further asserted his forces r "reserve the right to retaliate

2. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that there "cannot be business as usual" with Pakistan after last week's deadly flare-up along the LoC in Kashmir”.

3. Widow of Indian soldier Lance Naik Hemraj Singh who killed in Kashmir border clash says 'Give me back my husband's head'

TILL NOTHING SOLID OR SUBSTANTIAL TAKES PLACE! WHY?
As an Indian, I am extremely distressed. Our country, politician n defense officials should have to take a solid stand. We should be very clear and whoever does wrong, should have to account for it …
That’s all!
